The word Mangalayatan is fashioned by the combination of two words; Mangal & Ayatan that refer to the Home (Place) that endows contentment and positive vibrations. Mangalayatan symbolizes the ultimate resource that underlines well-being and prosperity "Learn Today to Lead Tomorrow".

Mangalayatan University (MU) has been created under the "Mangalayatan University, Uttar Pradesh Act" and notified by the Government of Uttar Pradesh as Act No. 32 of 2006, by its Gazette No. 362/VII-V-1-1(Ka)-12/2006 dated October 30, 2006, with the right to confer degrees under section (2f) and 22(1) of the UGC Act. Established in 2006, MU was founded with the vision of providing high quality education to students that would equip them with skills to differentiate themselves in today's fast changing world.
