Admission Procedure

Admissions to professional courses in Mangalayatan University are based on Entrance Examinations conducted by the University (National and Regional) or by Central/State government agencies. Each of these has a specified quota of intake. Seats left vacant in one quota may be filled by admissions in other quotas. Admissions to all other courses are based on the merit in the qualifying examination.

For Sections (i), (ii) & (iii) below, candidates must fill FORM-A available with prospectus or downloadable from the website Click here to download Form. The process of filling and submitting the form is described in the “Completing the Application Form” section below.

(i)MU National Entrance Examination

The examination will be both online and offline. The student can choose any one of them. 30% of all seats in the courses listed above will be filled via the National Entrance Examination. The medium of the exam will be English.

Date of Examination:

  • Online Exam- 4th May to 18th May
  • Offline Exam- 18 May
  • Duration of Exam- 2 Hours

Examination Procedure

  • For the online exam, the time slot can be booked via the website once the candidate receives notification from the university that the slot booking facility is available. The centre and time slot chosen by the candidate will be reflected in the admit card.
  • For both the online and offline exams, all candidates who complete the application process before 15th April 2015 will receive their admit cards containing information regarding their examination centre via email and post by 30th April 2015.
  • Candidates applying after 15th April 2015 will be given instructions to download their admit cards via an online link on the university website.

(ii)Regional Entrance Exam

The MU Regional Entrance Examination will be conducted in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh. The examination will be both online and offline. The student can choose any one of them. 30% of all seats in the courses listed in the above “Applicable Courses for FORM-A” section will be filled via the Regional Entrance Examination. The medium of the exam will be English.

Date of Examination:

  • Online Exam- 14 June
  • Offline Exam- 14 June
  • Duration of Exam- 2 Hours

Examination Procedure

  • For both the online and offline exams, all candidates who complete the application process before 31st May 2015 will receive their admit cards containing information regarding their examination centre via email and post by 10th June 2015.
  • Candidates applying after 31st May 2015 will be given instructions to download their admit cards via an online link on the university website.

Important Notes for Sections (i) & (ii)

  • The syllabi and sample question papers will be available on the university website by 31st December 2014.
  • Detailed instructions on how to answer the exam paper will be sent via email and post along with the admit card. These instructions will also be posted on the university website.
  • Candidates are expected to appear for examination at the centre allotted to them. In case a candidate wishes to request a change of centre, he/she must apply to the university well in time.

Result Declaration (Applicable for both Sections (i) & (ii))

  • The program-wise merit lists will be put up within two weeks of the completion of the exam on the university website.
  • This will be followed by an official scorecard sent to each candidate via e-mail and post. The counselling date will be intimated along with the scorecard.
  • In case of any discrepancies in the merit list or scorecards, the decision of the MU Admissions Office will be final.

Counselling Procedure (Applicable for both Sections (i) & (ii)

The First Counselling for candidates applying for admission through National Entrance Exam or Regional Entrance Exam will be held at the university on 6th & 7th June, 2015 and 4th & 5th July, 2015 respectively. Selected candidates will receive an official Counselling Invitation Letter containing the date, time & venue of counselling, the list of documents and the fee amount to be brought for admission confirmation. This letter will be sent via post and e-mail. This information will also be available online along with the result of the National Entrance Exam & Regional Entrance Exam. If required, the university may conduct another round of counselling for the remaining candidates.

Note- Candidates who miss both the entrance exams or apply after the exam dates should fill up Form A. The university may decide to conduct a further entrance exam at a later date at the university campus.

(iii) Ranks in National/State Competitive Examinations

The First Counselling for these candidates will be held at the university on 27th and 28th June, 2015. Selected candidates will receive an official Counselling Invitation Letter containing the date, time & venue of counselling, the list of documents and the fee amount to be brought for admission confirmation. This letter will be sent via post and e-mail. The university will conduct another round of counselling for the remaining candidates in the month of July.

Admissions to courses listed below will be based on the marks obtained in the respective qualifying examination (marks in std. X/XII/graduation or other exam, as specified in the eligibility criteria).

Admission to Ph.D. Program

MU admits students to all its Ph.D. programs twice in a year. The minimum requirement is 55% marks in the relevant Masters’ program. Applications may be submitted throughout the year.

Note : Min. 60% marks required for Engineering (at grad. & master’s level), Pharmacy & Management.

Counselling Procedure

MU conducts two entrance exams every year for its Ph.D. program, once in June-July and again in December-January. Candidates may choose to appear in either session. The list of successful candidates will be put up on the website within 2 weeks of the completion of the exam. The procedure for registration for Ph.D. after passing the entrance exam is explained in the Ph.D. regulations available on the website.

Detailed Application Procedure

There are 3 different application forms available with prospectus & on website. Once a candidate decides the program of interest, he must fill up the relevant application form as follows:-

  • Fill up the relevant form (Form A/D/E) available with prospectus & on website. Instructions to fill up forms are available in the next section.
  • All forms can also be downloaded from website.
  • You may also fill up the form online via the Online Submission link on the same website
  • Send the completed form to “The Admissions Officer, Mangalayatan University, 33rd Milestone, Mathura-Aligarh Highway, Beswan, Dist. Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh – 202145”. You may also submit the form in person at the university or at any of the regional offices listed under “Contact us” section.

In case you have downloaded the form from the website, you must submit the form along with a cheque/demand draft of Rs. 500 in favour of “Mangalayatan University” payable at Aligarh, UP. If you are filling the form online, you can pay the application fee of Rs. 500 online. You will be guided through the payment process while filling up the form online. Those unable to pay online may send a print-out of the submission acknowledgement along with a cheque/demand draft of Rs. 500 in favour of “Mangalayatan University” payable at Aligarh, UP.

  • The detachable portion at the bottom of FORM-A also to be filled, detached and retained by the candidate (Only for those who apply for National Entrance Exam or Regional Entrance Exam) . In case you do not receive the admit card in time, you may use this as a provisional admit card and present it at the examination centre for verification. After due verification by the examination officer, you will be permitted to appear in the entrance exam.
  • You will receive an acknowledgement slip either at the receiving office (if submitting in person) or via post. You must retain the slip for future reference and correspondence with the university regarding your application.

Completing the Application Form

  • Please check your eligibility for the program before applying.
  • The application form has to be filled in your own handwriting in black ink.
  • The instructions in the Application form are self-explanatory. Please follow them strictly.
  • Candidates have to enclose only a copy of their class 10th mark sheet with the application form. No other mark sheets/testimonials are to be attached with the application form at this stage. Application form will be considered for all procedures related to admission. Any discrepancy found during original document verification may result in cancellation of admission.

  • Recent Passport size colour photographs – 2 Counselling invitation letter

Confirmation of Admission

  • After counselling, successful candidates will be given an Offer of Admission.
  • On receiving the offer of admission, the candidate will be required to deposit the fees as mentioned in website under “Course and Fee” section to confirm his admission.
  • Upon this payment, the candidate will receive his Admission Letter containing details of the outstanding annual fee, allotment of hostel /bus & date, date of commencement of academic session and other relevant information. The candidate will be required to produce this letter when appearing in campus for the orientation program.

Orientation Program & Commencement of Classes

The orientation program for the batch of 2015-16 will be on 14th July 2015. Classes will commence on 15th July 2015. The orientation program will cover:

  • Introduction to and interaction with all senior university functionaries
  • Completion of pending admission formalities, if any
  • Familiarization with all campus facilities – library, computer facilities, online systems, help desk, etc
  • Meeting with faculty mentors and information about mentor ship program
  • Allotment of hostel rooms or transport facility
  • Introduction to student activities, with facility for registration
