If the students wish to make a career in a bachelor of mass communication, then the Bachelor of Arts Journalism and Mass Communication (BAJMC) course is for them. The major focus of the course is on various aspects of mass communication and journalism. The basic concepts, theories, and models of mass communication are taught during the course tenure. The role mass media plays in society, its impact, and its various forms (print, electronic, and digital media) are the other aspects covered during the course. It also includes training in news reporting, gathering, editing, and presentation across different media platforms. Various forms of writing for the media are taught during the course. These writings include news writing, feature writing, opinion pieces, and scripting for radio and television. Some programs offer elective or specialization courses such as broadcast journalism, print journalism, digital media, advertising, or public relations.
BJMC Course Eligibility Criteria
- The students should have completed class 12 from a recognized board on any stream.
- A minimum of 50% is required in class 12.
- Most universities or institutes conduct entrance exams for admission. The students need to clear the entrance exam for admission.
Bachelor of Arts Journalism & Mass Communication ( BJMC ) Course Duration:
BA Journalism and Mass Communication Course can be pursued for three years. It is divided into six semesters. The focus is on media journalism, concerns, research, mass media communication, etc.
- Practical as well as theoretical training along with various workshops are conducted.
- Internship with media organizations, advertising agencies, public relations firms, etc is a mandatory part of the course.
