Profile of the Cell:
As a matter of policy, the Mangalayatan University encourages its faculty members to undertake research, innovations and consultancy work at University level and in collaboration with outside agencies. Appropriate Research and consultancy projects, providing much needed services to the industry, also benefit the concerned faculty members and the organization in several ways. Research and consultancy projects provide first-hand knowledge of the current problems of industry. The faculty members also get an opportunity to apply their ideas for finding out the solutions to the problems in emerging areas. Furthermore, the consultancy work also provides incentives for their contributions to all stakeholders.
The Scientific Research Cell of the Mangalayatan University, Aligarh look after all the research activities of the University, starting from project drafting, submission, management, recruitment of research personnel, interactions with the funding agency, innovations, protection of IPR and technology transfer along with monitoring of research activities of the University. Additionally, cell plays a vital role in the initiation of new research, consultancy and innovation initiatives at the University premises.
At the cell, we help foster an ecosystem of sustainable collaborative and interdisciplinary research, innovation and consultancy programmes with industries and renowned academic and research institutions. We work to fulfill the administrative support, offer IPR protection for technologies developed and transferred and organize interdepartmental collaborative workshops, seminars and conferences to open gateways of future sustainable R&D initiatives at the Mangalayatan University.

- Promotion of Scientific Research and Consultancy in the University.
- Designing and drafting of important policies as per the requirement.
- Intellectual support to the faculty undertaking scientific research and consultancy work.
- IPR support, management and protection to the faculty members and research scholars.
- Monitoring the execution of scientific research and consultancy activities of the University.
- Signing of MoU and promotional role by liaising with industry and government organizations for research and consultancy.
- Felicitation of outcome based scientific research and Intellectual property of faculty members and research scholars.
- Any other activities that may be assigned from time to time by the University.
Rules and Regulations for Research/Consultancy Projects:
- Individuals or Departments shall take up projects after taking approval of the Dean (SRIC) through the Head of the concerned Department.
- All funds/Financial assistance in connection with Projects should be received in the name of the Mangalayatan University, Aligarh.
- Consultancy project from any sponsor can be taken up for a minimum amount of Rs. 1, 00,000/- excluding GST.
- For consultation work involving only site visit or personal discussion a minimum amount of Rs. 10,000/-per man/day for faculty and Rs. 2,000/-per man/day for technical and other non-academic staff may be charged.
- Report(s) and data originated out of project are the joint Intellectual Property of the sponsoring agency and the investigators which can be used by the sponsor for its own use only and cannot be disclosed to a third party without prior consent of the sponsor and the Principal Investigator.
- The IPR policy of the university shall be applicable as such in protection of Intellectual property. However, if there is a condition in MoU signed between the Sponsoring agency and PI, regarding the IPR issue that will take precedence over the condition laid down as per the above para.
- The report of the Sponsored Research and industrial consultancy projects will be kept by PI for a period of 03 years from the date of closure of the project and for routine testing.
- If a case of malpractice or misconduct is found/established by a fact finding committee against a staff member in connection with project(s), the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, on the recommendation of Dean, SRIC may prohibit the concerned staff member to take part in any new project either as Principal Investigator or co-investigator, till such time that a final decision is taken by the appropriate committee in the matter.
- However, in such cases the concerned staff member will be expected to complete his/her obligations in the on-going project(s) with which he/she is connected, in order that the on-going projects and obligations to the sponsor do not suffer.
- All purchases under projects shall be made as per the University norms. In case of equipment which is to be carried outside, the same should be insured before they are taken out.
- Faculty members may accept honorary membership of board of directors of companies with the condition that there will not be any direct involvement of the faculty in concerned industry/company.
- A sitting fee is payable to an expert other than those involved in the project for attending consultation meetings duly notified by PI in connection with the project work with the approval of Dean (SRIC).
Research Monitoring Committee:
A senior officials monitoring committee will look after the progress of scientific research and consultancy projects in every 6 months wherein the project Investigator will give a ppt presentation on the progress and outcome of the project.
